Cantilever Bridge Toothpicks What Does Torque Have To Do With Beam/ Bridge Building?

What does torque have to do with beam/ bridge building? - cantilever bridge toothpicks

In my school physics class, we build a toothpick cantilever. My question is to help as well, our project?

It would also be good for us all boards.
We need to hold 14 N at the end of the bar, and my physics teacher said that the size and weight do not affect the project that much.

Your teacher is correct. Size and weight is of little use. Pair, because it seems that we have not regretted it, refers to the torque. 1 pound of force exerted on a bar 1 foot long pair produces a torque or force of the pounds 1 foot. Here's how it is as a key assigned. It is best to make a detailed study on the design overhang. You see, like the diagonal beams to bear the cross. The pressure from above or below will be transferred to a third party, by the diagonal bars. If possible, use flat toothpicks and put them together with only 60 and 70% of its length. Make sure that most of the diagonals toothpick that meet the high point of toothpicks. Do not hit the diagonals on the surface of each toothpick. This will only add stress to your design does not need. If there cantilever bridges in your area, go for the way they are constructed, and then use these observations to you with your project.

Kerry answer is very good.

what they think, why not the beam?

1. if it is not strong enough, and the weight is just outside.

2. If the weight is off, and begins with rotating beam.

This is where the couple comes into play, is the design of the beam, so that does not rotate. Sometimes, when we see the cantilever bridges in strange places. if not also contribute to the vertical force, torque to prevent the failure.

what we do is build a road and then turn. to see where it moves. to see where it can not strengthen the breath. both directions.

while you want to build you, to see if a string is pinched or pulled a toothpick. Compression is that the error occurs. not exclusively, but almost always. Pressure-rays become mere exposure, but also more prone to twisting. They are the ones that you need to build forts to strengthen and to the side.

Ah! Do I need to do the same. 3 pounds is a lot of weight ..
And the couple is the couple? You must deposit at the lower and upper, so if you did not put weight break.
